Sustainable Energy ( Honors) Grade Levels offered: (11, 12) Permission from the WCA Administrator is required.
Topics include: Principles of Sustainable/Renewable Energies, Principles of Biblical Stewardship, Energy Site Evaluation, Conventional Energy Sources and Use, Conservation and Waste Recovery Technologies, Geothermal Technology, Solar Energy Technologies, Biomass, Biogas, and Microturbine Technologies, Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technologies, Wind Energies, Nuclear Technologies, Codes, Regulations and Standards, Economics of Sustainable/Renewable Energies, and Post-Secondary Educational and Vocational Opportunities related to Sustainable Energy.

Student Committment:    Students will begin assignments during the summer prior to the opening of school. Students will be required to participate in several field-trips which may result in missing 3 to 4 school days during the school year.  Students are responsible for all missed work in other classes.. There will be costs, beyond normal tuition, to cover the expenses of these special field trips,and to purchase supplies for student-designed  projects.
