Over the years, West-Mont's tradition of being a parent-run school has helped us to understand the diverse needs of today's family. More than ever, parents are taking seriously their God given responsibility for the education of their children . . . as it should be. Many are choosing the route of Home Based Education, or Home Schooling.
Perhaps you are home schooling your children at this time, know someone who home schools, or are prayerfully considering this alternate form of education. In any case, you are probably wondering, "Must home schooling be a solo venture?" or, "What resources are available to help my children (and me) in this educational adventure?" Maybe even, "How do I find out about other families home schooling in my area?" West-Mont Christian Academy (WCA) would like to assist you in answering your questions and helping your school be a success!
Basic Benefits:
As a home schooling family associated with WCA you will receive:
Textbooks for your use when available
Furnishings (desks, etc.) when available
Use of the school library
Standardized testing and evaluation in required grades (3rd, 5th, and 8th)
Portfolio Overview reviews at the end of the school year prior to submission to your school district
(there is associated additional charges for a letter of recommendation from a educational
professional for the completion of the school district review)
Opportunity to join our classes on selected field trips.
Special demonstrations in our science labs (with our advanced equipment)
Art, Music, and Physical education classes for elementary level students (as space permits).
Jr. Level sports participation
These benefits are available to you when you register with West-Mont as a Home School Family. The family registration fee is the same as that of a regular single student. Currently, that is $70.00 for a first time registration and $35.00 for a renewal registration. (Please note that homeschools must be registered with their local school district to enroll in WCA's program.)
Add On Benefits:
Depending upon interest, need and staffing, we will provide for you:
Participation in musical instrument lessons and band/ensemble opportunities.
Rates for lessons and instrument rental are given at the beginning of each school year.
Tutoring for students through the resource room program. The regular rate for individual instruction
is $10.00 per session ($8.00 per group session).
Opportunity to take any of West-Mont's regularly scheduled classes.
Registration availability is dependent upon specific class size. The cost to take one or more
individual classes at West-Mont depends on the type of the class. Call the school office for
specific costs: 610-326-7690.
Opportunity for participation in West-Mont's sports program. Requires enrollment in at least one
WCA class. (See above for fee schedule.)
In The Future:
A dream not too far from reality is the development of a home school computer bulletin board. How could it help? To name just a few ways: You could share special programs/activities in your area that may be of interest to other home schoolers (Lots of Fun). Tap into the home school database to find out what other family has the educational game or instructional video you need (Saves money). Having trouble teaching that phonics program? No problem, receive first-hand help from those who already used it (Saves time). Granted, this one will take some work. But, if enough families are interested, and are willing help, it just may get off the ground.
