Future Teacher Program
Future teachers are West-Mont 12th graders who are interested in pursuing a career working with children. They spend a portion of their day in an elementary classroom, helping with lesson plans, leading teaching time, and just having fun getting to know the kids! They often travel on field trips and keep an online journal of their experiences.
See below for a few testimonials of past Future Teacher participants.
Words from our students about
their Future Teacher Experience
Studying Elementary Education at
Penn State Berks
"It is beautiful to see how special each child is and what makes them who they are. They are all caring and kind and will always talk and laugh with you. I have really connected with the students, and I think God has used them to touch my heart and change it. He has also greatly ministered to them through me."
Studying Occupational Therapy at Elizabethtown College
“Being a Future Teacher has truly been a joy in my life. I will always treasure the moments I got to create with the 4th graders. Each student had a great personality that was really fun to see. In retrospect, I hope that my actions were ones to look up to and to be followed. I did my very best to set a Godly example for every student I came in contact with.
I learned a lot from all the kids as well. I was reminded of the importance of patience, first time obedience, respect for your elders (specifically teachers and staff), and gratitude for the help I have received during my years at West-Mont. I believe the Lord gifted me with a special connection with kids and I plan on using this gift when I go into Occupational Therapy as this field requires a people loving personality and an approachable demeanor.
I plan to work in pediatrics as a therapist and hope to have many opportunities to shine God's light wherever I go and in whatever I do. "
