Since West-Mont currently serves over 12 districts, it is vital for each family to take note of their own home school district plan for the day, as well as West-Mont’s plan.
Each individual school district decision will affect your child’s potential attendance at school, and busing. Below are some important guidelines:
In the case of inclement weather, students should follow the same delay/closing schedule as the school district in which they reside. For example, if a student lives in the Phoenixville School District and they are closed, but WCA is open, that student is not expected to come to school that day. Students will be marked as having an excused absence. (Please note that this does not apply to school district scheduled days off or in-service days when WCA has school.) West-Mont will use our parent text alert system, and WFMZ to announce our school delay/closing.
On occasion, WCA's weather may be worse than your local school district. For example, your district may have a two-hour delay, but WCA may be closed; please do not send your child to school. West-Mont will use our parent text alert system, and WFMZ to announce our school delay/closing.
If inclement weather occurs after the school day has begun, individual school districts may call for early dismissal. District buses will then come to retrieve students from West-Mont to transport them back home to the district where they reside. Parents are responsible to be aware of early dismissals/closings in their own home districts. Since WCA has 12 districts busing to our school, we are not able to notify parents if their individual district is closing early. We recommend that parents sign up for free email or text alerts for their school district through NBC 10 or WFMZ.
Student drivers are not dismissed from WCA until we are notified by their home school district that there is an early dismissal for that particular district. Student drivers are not dismissed from WCA until we are notified by their home school district that there is an early dismissal. Parents who drive their students to school may come to pick up their students once their school district has called an early dismissal or closed for the day.
