A Message from Our New Head of School
Dear WCA Family & Friends,
From the time I was very young, learning has always been a passion of mine. Growing up, I could not wait to learn to read so I could gain knowledge about the world around me. I would read anything and everything just to learn something new. My parents encouraged this, and would take me to the library or help me find educational TV shows to watch. School was always exciting for me; I could not wait to wake up every morning and get on the bus. It only seemed natural that I would become an educator, so that I could instill this love of learning into a new generation.
In the summer of 1991, my brother and I attended Vacation Bible School at Shirley Assembly of God. It was there, at the age of 10, that I was led to the Lord. Several weeks later, both of my parents came to Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in the Nassau Coliseum. By September, we were attending Shirley Assembly of God, and were plugged into Sunday School and the Royal Rangers ministry. It was through the Rangers program that I learned about manhood, leadership, servanthood, and many other life lessons.
After graduating from high school, I attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. This was a great time of growth and refinement for me. I had the opportunity to tour the country as part of their Concert Orchestra, get involved in campus discipleship programs, and help build our Social Science Department Honor Society. I graduated in 2003 with a BA in History, Social Science, and Middle School/Secondary Education.
After spending two years teaching in New York, God opened a door for me to attend graduate school at Missouri State University. While attending, I was an adjunct professor at Evangel University and Ozark Technical College. I also worked with Royal Rangers International developing curriculum. In 2007, I graduated with a Masters of International Affairs and Administration.
In August of 2007, I married my wonderful wife, Donna, and began teaching at my previous school. A year later, she joined the faculty as well, which allowed us to serve together in God’s work. We grew in our love for Christian education and our desire to see it thrive. The importance of our work grew even more for us when our daughter, Isabella was born in 2011, and again in 2014 when our son, Anthony was born.
Our family is excited to be joining the West-Mont Christian Academy community this summer. We had the opportunity to meet so many of the amazing students, faculty, and staff earlier this month. It was such a pleasure to get to know the teachers and see first-hand the passion they have for their students. We know that God has great things in store for WCA; we look forward to our service in this ministry!
May God Bless You,
Mr. Anthony Buttacy, Head of School
