SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
SERVICE LEARNING

Many schools, both secular and Christian, have lots of wonderful opportunities for community service. This might be a food drive, clean up day, or volunteering at a soup kitchen. While these are great things that help members of the community, they are limited in the fact that they are one time events that meet a need for a moment. At Alliance Christian School District, we go deeper. In our Service Learning Model, our teachers utilize service to both teach our curriculum and allow our students to develop long term relationships with the people they are serving. Our projects become year long partnerships between community organizations and our students.

THROUGH THE SERVICE LEARNING MODEL, STUDENTS HAVE A MORE AUTHENTIC LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

Rather than creating a project in class that only the teacher and

classmates will see, students create projects that directly impact

the lives of real people. Additionally, students learn how to build

relationships with others.
